Stroke is a leading cause of adult disability. Intracranial stenosis is the narrowing of major intracranial arteries due to the build-up of atherosclerotic plaque. It is probably the most common cause of stroke worldwide. Stent-assisted coiling has been widely used for the treatment of large neck intracranial aneurysms. Medical therapy with antithrombotic agents such as aspirin and warfarin to reduce ischemic events has been the standard treatment for intracranial arterial stenosis.
