Oracle promises to revamp problematic Cerner EHR system, in the face of Congressional scrutiny

Oracle pledged before Congress in September that it will rewrite the Cerner EHR system as a cloud-based application that will fix the problems the system has afflicted on VA healthcare providers over the last two years.

In a September 21 hearing, Executive Vice President Mike Sicilia told scrutinizing lawmakers that the company would release a beta version of the system in 2023 “as a cost-free upgrade under the current contract,” reported The Spokesman-Review.
